How To Get Rid Of Pimples Overnight Naturally
GREEN TEA TO GET RID OF PIMPLES
Green Tea is known for its cancer-fighting ability, improved brain functions and even eliminating body fats. In fact, according to WebMD, “Green tea seems to help keep blood sugar stable in people with diabetes. Because catechins lower cholesterol and blood pressure, they can help protect against the damage a high-fat diet can cause”.
The benefits of Green Tea doesn’t stop there, though. Our skin can directly benefit from its detoxifying effect. Green Tea contains the antioxidant known as EGCG. This natural chemical helps in reducing sebum production, inflammation and bacterial growth in the skin. As you may already know these three elements greatly contribute not only to the occurrence of pimples but with how long they stay on your face.
Directions for making your own Green Tea facial cleanser:
- Place a green tea bag, or better yet dried green tea leaves, in a cup.
- Pour boiling water in the cup and let it steep just like how you do it when you’re going to drink green tea.
- Let it cool down for around 10 minutes.
- While the tea is cooling down, wash your face and pat dry with a clean towel.
- Once tea has cooled down, use a cotton ball and apply the green tea water to your face.
- Leave it for around 10 minutes, then wash your face.
TEA TREE OIL TO KICK THESE PIMPLES OUT
Applying tea tree oil to your pimples is a natural and effective way of getting rid of it. It’s a spot-on and highly-targeted treatment, so you will only need to apply it on the pimple itself.
Tea Tree oil is known for its disinfecting and soothing properties. It is very gentle on the skin but strongly unforgiving to bacteria. Tea Tree oil doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oil. This means it can prevent the occurrence of acne scars.
Make sure to use 100% tea tree oil. There are products out there which contain other chemicals and this is not what you need for this treatment.
There are different ways of using this oil (which deserves an article of its own) but the easiest way to do it is with the use of cotton buds.
If this is the first time you’re going to use it, I suggest that you dilute the oil with water before applying it directly. You can do this by soaking the tip of a cotton swab in water first.
Here are the steps:
- Wash your face and pat dry with a clean towel.
- Pour a few drops of tea tree oil onto the cotton swab.
- Dab the tea tree oil directly onto your pimples.
- Let it dry and leave it overnight.
When you wake up, you’ll see your zit almost gone and that it becomes barely noticeable. If your pimple was quite big the night before, you’ll definitely notice the reduced redness and swelling.
REDUCE THOSE PIMPLES WITH CINNAMON AND HONEY MIXTURE
Don’t you find it surprising how some ingredients we use to make food taste better can be used effectively to tackle pimple problems?
If you love Cinnamon and Honey, you might have thoughts of starting your day right having these flavors in your breakfast. But these two can also start your day right even without having to eat them with your breakfast, especially if you’re having some pimple problems.
Cinnamon is very effective in drying out pimples. It can also help to rejuvenate the skin by bringing in more oxygen to the surface and by de-clogging the pores.
Honey has a natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which can target the bacteria in acne. Additionally, it also helps moisturize the skin because of it contains a lot of antioxidants as well.
Creating a mixture out of these 2 ingredients can help you get rid of your acne real quick.
Here’s what you need to do to use it effectively:
- Make a paste by mixing equal parts of cinnamon with honey.
- Wash your face and pat it dry.
- Apply the paste directly to your pimples.
- Leave it on while you sleep, taking care not to let it stain your pillow or blanket.
- Wash your face the next morning.
You’ll definitely see the difference after washing. It’s like your face had a good breakfast!
ORANGE PEEL AND JUICE TO PEEL OUT THOSE PIMPLES
We all know that vitamin C is good for the skin whether ingested or applied directly. There are some who would even crush vitamin C tablets and apply the powder directly to pimples. Some would even add the powder to a facial toner to make it more effective.
Unfortunately, these tablets are not 100% pure vitamin C. It is a lot better to take it directly from one of its natural sources, orange. Not just the juice, but the peel as well.
Drinking a glass of orange juice every day can certainly help you in maintaining a healthy skin. The vitamin C you get from it is an essential ingredient for the building blocks of your skin, according to Livestrong. You can also use the same potency if you apply it to your pimple directly.
Using orange juice and peel in removing your acne is actually very simple:
- Peel your orange but don’t throw away the orange peel.
- Squeeze the juice out of the orange and set aside about a teaspoon on a saucer or small bowl.
- Use the rest to make an orange juice out of it.
- Wash the orange peels and set aside.
- Wash your face with warm water to open up the pores and pat dry.
- Rub the outside of a piece of orange peel on your acne.
- Then dip a cotton swab on the teaspoon of orange juice and dab it on your pimple.
- Leave the juice on your face for about an hour and rinse with cold water.
Remember to not use the same orange peel in treating several acne. It should be one piece of orange peel per acne. This will help prevent bacteria from spreading. Don’t forget to drink the orange juice that you set aside earlier (not the one you used on your acne!).
LEMON JUICE BECAUSE YOUR FACE IS NO LEMON
Sebum or skin oil is commonly mistaken to be the primary cause of pimples. The truth is, it becomes harmful when it gets mixed up with dead skin cells or dirt.
Lemon juice attacks the source of your pimple by flushing out the bacteria-infused sebum trapped inside the skin. The acid in the lemon acts as a natural astringent, which constricts or squeezes the skin.
The lemon being an astringent, you will naturally feel some tingling sensation when you apply it on your skin. Enjoy the feeling because it just means that your pimple is being cleared out.
To use lemon juice to rid yourself of pimples, follow these simple steps:
- Wash your face and pat dry.
- Squeeze some lemon juice.
- Dip a cotton swab in the juice and apply it directly to your pimples.
- Leave it for an hour then rinse it off.
- Apply moisturizer to prevent your skin from drying out.
Lemon juice can be quite strong to some, depending on the type of skin. If you feel some burning sensation, wash it off immediately.
ASPIRIN TO CLEAR THESE PIMPLES
If your pimple is more pronounced and has an eye in the middle filled with pus, this technique is definitely for you. As effective as aspirin is when it comes to taking care of headaches, it is equally capable of getting rid of these annoying pimples.
How does an aspirin help banish cystic acne? An aspirin contains a chemical similar to salicylic acid. It is a potent anti-inflammatory agent that can reduce pore size, clean your skin and reduce inflammation. It is very effective in eliminating these bacteria-filled pimples.
Follow these steps and liberate your skin from acne:
- Put one aspirin tablet in a small bowl.
- Add a few of drops of water.
- With the back of a spoon, start crushing the tablet and turn it into a paste.
- Add 1 tablespoon of honey, if available, and mix it with the paste.
- Wash your face and pat dry.
- Apply the aspirin paste thinly on the pimples and allow the paste to dry.
- After 15 minutes, rinse the paste off your face.
- Be sure to apply moisturizer especially if you didn’t add honey earlier.
Because of the strong acid in the aspirin, it can dry the applied area quickly. This is why it is preferred to add honey into the paste to counter this. However, applying moisturizer should help as well.
BAKING SODA TO EXFOLIATE THOSE PIMPLES OUT
The power of baking soda is so well-known when it comes to cleaning dishes and teeth whitening. It doesn’t end there, though. It is also very effective in clearing the face of acne.
If you don’t know yet, I’m a huge fan of baking soda when it comes to treating acne. In fact, I’ve written a separate article about it: Get Rid of Pimples with Baking soda.
Baking soda has very powerful exfoliating properties. Added to your facial cleanser, it can help a lot with cleaning oily and congested skin. It is this same reason that it is one of the best natural treatment for pimples.
A spot-on treatment using baking soda paste can target the bacteria-filled oil in your pimple. Additionally, it’s mild anti-inflammatory properties can significantly reduce the redness and swelling.
Here’s how to use this natural technique for your pimple problems:
- Stir the mixture to make a consistent paste.
- Add a few of drops of water.
- Apply the paste to your acne (or acne scars).
- Leave it overnight then rinse your face in the morning.
I recommend using baking soda to help remove acne scars as well. Its excellent exfoliating properties can help remove dead skin cells, encouraging the production of collagen and growth of new skin.
GARLIC TO WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST ACNE
Garlic has very strong anti-bacterial properties. It can kill fungi, viruses, and bacteria that cause acne. It is also anti-inflammatory so it’s very potent in reducing acne redness and swelling. The drawback is it doesn’t smell good unless when it’s being cooked (I love lots of garlic in my dishes). It also has a drying agent which helps prevent acne scars.
It’s like nature’s all-in-one solution to getting rid of acne. It can also be too strong to those with sensitive skin.
We don’t want to be adding more skin problems with this technique, so it’s best to dilute the garlic with water. Even diluted, it can still win its battle with pimple-causing bacteria.
Here are the steps to use one of the best natural pimple-busting remedies:
- Take 3 garlic cloves and crush them.
- Place it in a bowl and mix it with a tablespoon of water.
- Apply the mixture onto your pimple.
- If you still find it too strong, add more water into the mixture.
- Leave it on for about 10 to 15 minutes, or preferably overnight.
- Wash it off and pat the skin dry.
Applying garlic to your acne scars can leave you smelling like garlic but because it’s very effective, I guess the trade-off is quite worth it. Plus, you’re only going to apply and leave it on when you’re at home anyway.
TOOTHPASTE TO CLEAN UP PIMPLES
You might think that toothpaste is not exactly natural, but I just had to include this here because it just feels so unnatural not to use toothpaste in my personal routine.
So, how exactly can you get rid of pimples with toothpaste? Toothpaste contains an antibacterial property called triclosan. If you think about how it’s able to clean bacteria on our teeth, you’ll get a good understanding how potent it can be in killing acne-causing bacteria.
Applying toothpaste on your pimple can also help reduce the redness and swelling. It can lock the bacteria it’s trying to kill in place, preventing it from spreading. With baking soda as part of its ingredient, it not only helps prevent acne scars but helps with exfoliation as well.
Not all kinds of toothpaste are the same, though. You will need to use white toothpaste instead of gel-based ones.
The steps that follow are perhaps one of the easiest to do:
- Wash your face and pat it dry.
- Wash your hands as well.
- Using one of your fingers, gently apply the toothpaste on your pimple.
- Leave it overnight.
- Rinse it the next morning.
It is important to take note that the bleaching effect of toothpaste may not be suitable for people with naturally darker skin, so care must be taken in applying it. Don’t forget to add a moisturizer on your face after rinsing it as the toothpaste can be quite drying to the skin.
As with any other skincare product, remember to do a patch test first before applying any of these products on your face.
Final Words
We’re very lucky to have a quick way to hide our pimples using makeup, especially when we don’t have time to get rid of it. But if you’re not running out of time, if you still have one night to prepare before the big day, doing any of these natural techniques can really help get rid of pimples overnight. At the very least, it will lessen it to the point that it becomes real easy to cover up.
