It’s a beautiful Sunday once again and I want to share with you some of my beauty tips.
Here are 5 basic steps we can do before going to bed that will help us achieve a more radiant and beautiful skin.
Step 1
Remove your makeup
Using a really good makeup remover like the Chanel Le Blanc Immediate Brightening Oil-Gel Makeup Remover, gently massage it all over your face to remove makeup. Remember to use a gentle eye makeup remover for the eyes because traditional makeup removers or cleansers are not meant to be used on the eye area. Also take note that if you wear a waterproof and long-lasting foundation or a high SPF sunscreen, you might need to use a cleansing oil instead, like the Laneige Sebum Clear Deep Cleansing Oil Refresh. Put a small amount into a cotton pad and massage it gently all over your face, avoiding the eye area, to really remove stubborn makeup.
Step 2
Cleanse your face
Wash your face with an effective facial cleanser that is best suited for your skin. I use Eskinol Pimple-Fighting facial wash on days that I feel a pimple is brewing underneath my skin. If you used a full-coverage foundation or a high SPF sunblock, you might want to double-cleanse just to make sure that you’ve removed all the makeup residue from your face. Double-cleanse simply means washing your face twice with a really good cleanser like the Laneige Pore Deep Cleansing Foam.
Step 3
Tone
I used to skip this part, because I thought, My face is already clean, why do I need to use a toner? What’s it for, really? It was only recently that I had changed my bad habit, and realized the importance of this step. Toning helps in thoroughly removing any dirt or makeup residue from the face and neck, and it also preps the skin for the remaining beauty regimen that follows.
Step 4
Spot Treat
After toning, this is the time to use spot treatment products for blemishes and sun spots. I use Laneige White Plus Renew Spot Treatment EX for my age/sun spots and Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion and Drying Lotion for my pimples. This is also the time to use serums. During weekends, I use Le Weekend de Chanel.
Step 5
Moisturize
People tend to think that moisturizers are not for those with oily skin. To be honest, I used to be one of those people because I also have an oily/combination skin. It was only when my dermatologist from House of Obagi scolded me for not using a moisturizer and lectured me about it, that I started using a moisturizer religiously, well almost. I still skip it from time to time when I’m too sleepy to even put anything on my face after washing it. I’m currently using Laneige White Plus Renew Emulsion and Night Cream.
Recommendations:
- Use a separate towel to dry your face. If you think about it, it’s not really hygienic to use the same towel both for your face and body. I also read somewhere that the natural oils secreted by our hair and scalp can cause breakouts if they are absorbed by our facial skin.
- Avoid touching your face. Our hands are not always clean, even when we’re just staying at home and all we touch is our smartphones or laptops. Dust and the oils in our fingers can cause breakouts when they come in contact with our face. I have a bad habit of resting my chin on my palms whenever I’m deep in thought, and most often than not, I get a pimple in the area I’ve touched soon after, sometimes as little as just an hour.
