Like the last Fourth of July weekend, you’re sure to go to lots of barbecue cookouts or beach parties this summer. So you’d better protect your skin while enhancing your beauty. Check out these makeup items that you definitely need this summer!

SUN PROTECTION
With this in mind, the most important thing to apply to your skin during summer (and all year round) is, of course, sun protection. You might want a beautiful tan, but you don’t want sunburned skin. You want to enjoy the barbecue and not be scorched like a burnt and overdone steak!
Even if you’re not stepping outside the house, it’s still very important to apply sunscreen. It helps protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun and also prevents premature aging. Apply it after you’re done with your skincare routine and before applying any makeup.
The best sunblock for the face I’ve tried so far is Chanel UV Essentiel Anti Pollution Broad Spectrum SPF 50. But, there are also other brands that are as effective.

FOUNDATION WITH SPF
During summer, I make it a point to use foundation with SPF in it. This way, I get double protection. First from the sunscreen and then from the foundation.
I like Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control SPF50+ and Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Brightening Foundation SPF 50+. Sulwhasoo has more shade choices for both cool-toned and warm-toned gals, which is very surprising for a Korean brand.
If it’s too hot, though, a tinted moisturizer, skin tint or tinted sunscreen might sound better to you. NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30 and Clarins UV Plus Anti-Pollution Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Tinted Sunscreen Multi-Protection are just some of the best ones.

Bronzers are popular during this time of the year. With it, you can have a fake sun-kissed glow that can fool anybody. That is, if you apply it correctly, of course!
Guerlain Terracotta Pause d’Eté Collector Bronzing Powder Duo is a sight to behold, both in the packaging and on the face.

Now it’s time to bring some color to your face. Choose blush shades that make you think of summer. Like orange or coral! Chanel Angelique is still my favorite summer blush.

Hot lips are in during the hot summer months. There are so many lipstick brands and so many shades to choose from. I can’t really list my favourites here because there are just too many. If I list only a few of them, it would be unfair to the others. So I’m just going to name my favorite lipstick brands: Chanel and MAC. 🙂

Remember to use a treatment elixir like Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil. This will help condition and moisturize your lips. It also protects your lips from the harsh elements in the environment, while keeping it supple and soft.
Or, you can go for something with a shot of color like the Lancome Juicy Shaker Bi-Phase Lip Oil which is just $21 at Nordstrom.

I know you won’t be able to resist the cute colors in the Christian Louboutin ‘The Pops’ Nail Colour range.
These are just the basic makeup that you’d want to have in your bag during these hot summer months. I do skip on eye makeup during summer days. Summer nights, well, that’s a different story. If I’m going to go out partying or on a date with my husband, then I would apply eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara (or falsies, if I’m not being too lazy) and brow liner or mascara.
