Belated Happy Moms Day to all mothers! As a small tribute, I’ve put together these anti aging makeup tips. Follow these tips and nobody will be able to guess your real age. 🙂
My “life” begins soon! A little over a month from now, I’m going to say goodbye to being a thirty-something. 😀 So I’m always on the lookout for products and makeup tips that are anti-aging.
ANTI AGING MAKEUP TIPS
One thing to remember is that makeup can either make you or break you. Depending on how you apply your makeup, you can either look 10 years younger or 10 years older than your actual age. So, it’s very important that you know how to apply your makeup in a way that will erase years off from your face even just for several hours. Another thing to consider is the makeup products you’re using.
MOISTURIZER
Do you have normal, oily, dry or combination skin? Whatever your skin type or condition is, don’t forget to slather on a moisturizer before putting on any makeup. I can’t stress it enough, but this is a very important step. Of course, you will have to cleanse your face first. But after cleansing and toning, remember to give your skin its vitamins by applying your best moisturizer.
FOUNDATION
You can opt to use a primer or not. But whatever the case, in using a foundation, remember that “Less is More”. If you have wrinkles or large pores that you want to cover up, putting on a ton of foundation will only make them look worse. Your foundation will just end up cakey and will make you look older. The purpose of foundation is to even out the skin tone. Therefore, it’s best to apply only a layer of foundation on. Then just use a concealer for those areas that you want covered. If you have wrinkles, using a good primer can usually cover it up.
For large pores, I use this tip by Wayne Goss:
Another thing to note is that you need to choose the right foundation shade which matches your skin. I noticed that whenever I use a foundation that doesn’t match my skin tone, it doesn’t look good and also makes me appear older.
You can also opt to use a tinted moisturizer or a light foundation, especially during the summer months. Choose one with a luminous finish which will give you a glowing complexion. Not overly dewy, but just a luminous glow that will definitely erase 10 years from your face.
If you have normal to dry skin, you can probably skip on powder. However, if you have combination or oily skin, and you feel that you really need to set your makeup with powder, then use something that is translucent. Remember to apply only a little amount of powder, just enough to set your makeup.
If you have wrinkles, stay away from pressed powders. These settle into fine lines and wrinkles, which ultimately makes one appear older.
DON’T LET YOUR EYES BE THE GIVEAWAY
If you want to look fresh and young, it’s extremely important that you open up your eyes. Applying eyeliner on your upper lash line will give the illusion of fuller lashes. Another way to take years off your eyes is to curl your lashes and apply a lengthening mascara. Don’t shy away from shimmery eyeshadows. Applying a small amount in just the middle part of the lids will also make you appear younger. Also dab some to the inner corner of the eyes for a really brightening effect.
For the brows, here’s another great tip from Wayne Goss:
LIPS
Our lips become thinner as we age and the natural lip line also begin to fade. Lipsticks are more prone to feathering. Wrinkles begin forming and lip lines get deeper. Learn from the mistakes of our grandmothers. It is not a good sight to have grandma lips. If you can buy a clear lip liner to line your lips with, then go ahead and use that. Otherwise, find one that is very close to your natural lip color. That way, when your lipstick fades, you don’t end up with outlined lips just like your grandma. 😉
When choosing a lip color, go for something closer to your natural lip color. You can still use medium shades, but stay away from dark lipsticks as it will only make you appear older. It’s best to go for shades that will enhance your natural lip color, though. When you have wrinkles and thinning lips, you wouldn’t want to bring more attention to the area.
Another thing you don’t want is drying lipsticks. Make sure to choose lip products that are hydrating like the new Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks.
Anti Aging Makeup Tips
Another thing that you might want to use is a blush that will not look muddy on your cheeks. Choose one that looks like a natural flush of color on your face. Just don’t overdo it or you might end up looking like an old clown. 😀
