Best Makeup Removers: Bioderma H20

What are the best makeup removers you’ve tried? Do you always make it a point to remove your makeup at the end of your day or night? As important as it is to apply makeup using the best products and tools, it’s just as important to remove it using the best products as well.

It’s extremely important to choose a makeup remover which will be gentle for your skin, will not irritate the skin nor clog the pores, does not feel too oily and heavy, and will be able to remove all makeup in one go. I don’t like having to use too many cotton pads to remove my face makeup. As much as possible, I want to be able to remove all my face makeup using just 1 cotton pad, and then use another cotton pad for my eye and lip makeup.

I’ve used a lot of makeup removers from drugstore cleansers like L’Oreal Cleansing Milk to high-end products like Chanel Lait Confort Creamy Cleansing Milk. However, with most of these products, I always had to repeat the process because they usually are not able to remove all makeup in one go.

BEST MAKEUP REMOVERS: BIODERMA MICELLAR WATER
SENSIBIO H20 AND SEBIUM H20
Remove Your Makeup, Not Your Face
It was only recently that I’ve been able to buy these makeup cleansers from French brand, Bioderma. I’ve heard so many good things about it that I had been expecting it to work really well on me as well. I have tried both Bioderma Sensibio H20 and Sebium H20.

These micellar water makeup removers use micelles, which are electrically charged particles, to clean the skin surface by drawing makeup and impurities from the skin. If you’re in a rush or always on the go, these are great alternatives to harsh face wipes. Aside from having a no-rinse formula, these are also soap-free and alcohol-free.

Best Makeup Removers Bioderma Sensibio H20 Sebium H20

BIODERMA SENSIBIO H20
Solution Micellaire
Make-up Removing Micelle Solution

A cleansing and make-up removing water that respects the fragility of sensitive skin.

Cleanses, removes make-up and soothes sensitive skin. Excellent tolerance. Non-rinse. Paraben-free. Hypoallergenic.

Sensibio H2O is the 1st and only dermatological micellar water perfectly compatible with the skin: its fatty acid esters, the constituent elements of micelles, are similar to the phospholipids of the skin cell membranes
and naturally help rebuild the skin’s hydrolipidic film.

Bioderma Sensibio H20 is a gentle makeup remover which can be used both for the face and eyes. It’s much like the Koh Gen Do Cleansing Water. I have used Koh Gen Do’s cleansing water before, but I didn’t repurchase it after using up my first bottle of it (plus a small sized sample). It’s able to remove all makeup alright, but it leaves a thin film on my skin which feels oily.

The Sensibio H20, on the other hand, is like pure water (if pure water can remove makeup). It feels really light on the skin and doesn’t feel oily at all. It’s able to remove all my waterproof foundation from Make Up For Ever HD to Revlon Colorstay. It doesn’t leave an oily film, and I feel like I could skip the cleanser. I don’t though. Because I have acne-prone, combination/oily skin, I always follow up my makeup remover with my favorite cleanser before continuing with my skincare routine.

It is recommended to use it morning and/or evening everyday. But I only use it to remove my makeup at the end of the day and it works really great as such. What I do is soak a cotton pad with Sensibio, then gently sweep it all over my face and neck to remove all makeup. When I repeat the process, I usually end up with a clean cotton pad, which means that the first sweep already did the job. So what I do with the 2nd cotton pad soaked with Sensibio is press it gently over each of my eyes for a few seconds. I do this to ensure that no eye makeup had been left by my eye and lip makeup remover. Removing my lip and eye makeup is always the first step in my makeup removal process. But just to ensure that there is no makeup residue left, I usually follow it with cleansing waters like this one from Bioderma which are safe to be used on the eyes.

I have been using it for a few weeks now, and I am really pleased that it doesn’t break me out. Not a single pimple from using it! It doesn’t clog my pores and also doesn’t dry out my skin afterwards. It is definitely safe for sensitive to intolerant skin, which is what the brand promises. Well, at least it is on my sensitive skin. I haven’t experienced any redness or dryness from using Sensibio. It is fragrance-free and really gentle on the skin.

Bioderma Recommended Use:

☆ Soak a cotton pad with Sensibio H20.
☆ Gently cleanse and/or remove make-up from face.
☆ Reapply until the cotton pad becomes clean.
☆ Dry gently by lightly dabbing face with a clean cotton towel.

I have tried to use it to remove some of my waterproof mascaras, but it’s not able to remove everything in one sweep. Especially if I’ve applied 2 layers of mascara. But this is not a problem for me because I’m used to using a separate eye and lip makeup remover for my eye makeup. So I only use Sensibio on my eyes to ensure that every bit of makeup is removed. I use it with a cotton tip for my lash lines if there are some stubborn eye makeup that still lingers there.

Overall, I really love the Bioderma Sensibio H20 for it’s very gentle, fragrance-free formula. It is friendly with my sensitive skin and removes almost any type of makeup really well. It doesn’t clog my pores and doesn’t leave an oily residue without stripping my skin of its natural oils. My skin doesn’t become dry after using it, feels really clean and soft, that I feel I could get away with not having to use a cleanser afterwards.

I bought it for Php650 and I would definitely repurchase it. You can also buy it here, if you’re interested in getting this product as well.

Best Makeup Removers Bioderma Sensibio H20 Sebium H20

BIODERMA SEBIUM H20
Solution Micellaire
Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution

A cleansing and make-up removing water that gently purifies combination or oily skin.

Combination/Oily skin. Non-rinse. Paraben-free. Hypoallergenic.

Sébium H2O is the 1st specific make-up removing micellar water for combination or oily skin that mimics the natural composition of the skin for perfect make-up removal and total respect for even the most sensitive skin. Thanks to the Fluidactiv® patented sebo-correcting complex, it biologically regulates sebum quality to keep the pores from becoming clogged and clear up the skin.Enriched with purifying agents, zinc gluconate and copper sulphate, Sébium H2O purifies the skin and limits sebaceous secretion.

Bioderma Sebium H20 is the second makeup remover which I’ve purchased from the brand. I got intrigued with it because it’s meant to be used on combination, oily or blemished skin. Which covers almost all my skin problems.

Unlike the Sensibio, though, this one is not fragrance-free. It even says “New fragrance” on the bottle, so I guess the old formula of Sebium H20 had a not-so-pleasant scent. I’m only guessing because I haven’t tried it before. This new scent, however, is really nice. But would not be recommended on skin that’s sensitive to fragrances. It’s also meant to be used for the face only, and not on the eyes.

Compared to Sensibio H20, this only comes second. The first reason is because I can’t use it to thoroughly clean and remove my eye makeup because it’s not meant to be used for the eyes. For the face, though, it performs on the same level as Sensibio. Another thing I’ve noticed is that my skin feels a bit dry after using Sebium H20. This is probably because my skin these days is not too oily. But if you have oily skin, then I believe that this would be a great product for you.

I also haven’t experienced any breakouts from using it nor does it clog my pores. It doesn’t leave an oily residue behind and feels light on the skin.

Bioderma Recommended Use:

☆ Soak a cotton pad with Sebium H20.
☆ Gently cleanse and/or remove make-up from face.
☆ Reapply until the cotton pad becomes clean.
☆ Dry gently by lightly dabbing face with a clean cotton towel.

Overall, it’s also a good product to use if you have combination/oily, acne-prone skin. Personally, though, I prefer to use Sensibio H20 these days. But when hot and humid Summer weather is here and my skin becomes more oily again, then I would definitely use Sebium H20 instead.

A 100ml bottle costs Php650 from The SM Store, but it’s also available for around $15 here for a 250ml bottle.

I have wasted a lot of money on other makeup removers I’ve bought in the past. If only I had known about these Bioderma makeup cleansers early on, then I would have saved a lot of money. And saved my face from pimples which I got from other makeup removers, lol!

Because these are both no-rinse makeup cleansers, they’re perfect for travelling and also for late nights when you’re already too tired and wants to remove your makeup easily and quickly. These micellar waters are also alcohol-free and soap-free, so they are more gentle to the skin.

Do you use the same makeup cleanser throughout the year? Or do you also use different ones for each season? Have you tried both Bioderma Sensibio H20 and Sebium H20? Which of the two do you prefer? Do you also think that these are the best makeup removers out in the market today?
